STOCK UP ON: Brush Signing Pens
I had a hunch that these were the pens I needed for everything: for writing letters, for drawing bears, for labeling envelopes, for signing checks, for every single little thing. They cost a little over $2 each, so I ordered about twelve of them two months ago and put them in my pen caddy, and promptly learned I was correct. This is the only pen. Why would you want a different pen? You wouldn’t. This is the pen you want for everything. Live loudly. Write like everything you have to write about should be written with the cadence of a signature.
I have decided I don’t particularly need to be distracted or stimulated in summer. I am seeking rest and wonder. I want language that carries me around and to marvel about root systems and that kind of thing. So when it was time to unwind, I turned on this classic BBC show hosted by this man (with a suspiciously obedient dog) who talks about his dahlias in a way that makes you realize that you know nothing about dahlias and you have no hope of ever really knowing anything about them, but that really, that’s OK. I think it’s the only thing I’m going to watch for the whole summer.
LISTEN: Leigh Ross: To Learn
This is mostly a breakup album. I listened to it three times in a row while burning an important shrub yesterday and it was perfect. I won’t tell you much about it; instead, I’ll copy + paste the lyrics to a WHOLE SONG.
Everything ends
From TV shows to parties
Everything ends
Every song and every meal
Everything ends
And that's the saddest thing I think I'll ever hear
But everything ends
Bad dreams and sorrow
Everything ends
The ache that life has lent
Everything ends
And that's the sweetest thing I'll ever hear again
That everything ends
It was a CHOICE to put this song in the middle of the album.
