10 Things: Paint, Make, Install
All my recommendations on what to watch, read, think about, do, and consider this week.
Hello out there!
Comin’ atcha with 10 timely suggestions. If you are dying to know, in a long-winded way, what I really thought of The Sheep Detectives (movie) and Yesteryear (book), my full impressions are below the paywall. But everyone gets to (and SHOULD) take advantage of my summer playlist. IT IS HERE!

BUY: Bee Creative watercolor paper
For years, I’ve been like, “I can’t find any watercolor paper I am willing to buy besides Arches Cold Pressed.” The trouble is that Arches cold pressed paper is very expensive. But I went down a watercolor rabbit hole, and someone recommended this brand, and I’m thrilled about it. It’s got a nice tooth, is heavy enough, doesn’t warp, and holds pigment really nicely. The price point ($15 for 30 sheets) is good, too. What a relief!
INSTALL: A hummingbird feeder
If you live in North or South America, take advantage of the fact that you likely have access to the world’s smallest birds, who subsist on sugar water and are the only bird that can fly backward. Something you can do to have joy for the entire summer is to buy a $12 feeder, put in some sugar water, and install it today. The thrill when you get your first visitor is unlike anything I can describe. Complement with trumpet flowers throughout your yard and you’re basically a magnet for whimsy.
LISTEN TO: My summer playlist
Of all the playlists I make, I curate the summer one the most. This is because this is the season where I listen to the most music: on the deck, on a bike, on the beach… there is no shortage of opportunities to be listening to really great tunes!
