I love the idea of the poem, dried fruit, and $5!! I mean, I would be stoked to get that, so I think others would too.

This whole list is lovely.

Relax into listening.

THIS.

It seems so easy, right?

But it’s really not and this is something I’m going to (try to) do more of during the holidays.

And if I can manage it during the most high-stress and so-much-going-on time of year, I bet I’ll be able to do it ALL THE TIME.

I recently heard a strategy for neurodivergent folks (specifically ADHD) that echos your philosophy, Sophie.

ADHD folks, like myself, often have a weird relationship with time. I will spare the science explanation, however, we’re often late! This insta therapy post said, “give yourself twice as long as you THINK you need for tasks”.

I find this advice very helpful. Mainly because who likes being late? It is stressful, and annoying, for me and others. Giving myself more time helps me breath.

Related, I loved the Jill Riddell podcast episode where she interviews a geologist. The geologist refers to “deep time”, and, “shallow time”, and how often our culture lives in shallow time, whereas reality/history unfolds over billions of “deep” days and nights. I like that philosophy, too.

This was such a delightful read. Love the poem suggestion and the definition/feeling of family. A few really good friends came to mind.

I’m popping back in here (I have this letter in my saved box) to share that I’ve decided the $5/poem/dried fruit will be my birthday gift for everyone this year. I have had so much fun picking out poems for certain people already. It’s pure joy to go through my poetry collections (whether published books, random saved screenshots, copied in my own notebooks, etc) and get a feel for what might “fit” for my friends and family. I’ve also already squirreled away some packages of dried fruit from Trader Joe’s and managed not to open it for myself. Hahah!
