i veganize it by using canned coconut milk instead of cream, so good. it is my go to fall soup.
sophie i am sorry you’re going through it right now, i’m deep in it too: so much has happened in the last 12 months and it has been a journey, and not a pleasant one. i hope you have the support you need to help and process. i’m sending you lots of love!
I really enjoyed reading about your mood logging! Self-data collection and analysis is kinda fascinating! Thanks for sharing about it and normalizing feelings. Congrats on the book, Sophie!
A german soup that is called 'Eintopf' (Meaning one-pot). It is a soup where the vegetables are kept intact(?), so you basically have a broth (not instant) with celeriac, cauliflower, peas (you need peas!!), carrots, potatoes etc. You can Serve it with cream and maggi
Congrats on your about-to-be-released book! I'm sorry about your ptsd and about what caused it -- at least trauma is better understood than it used to be - so there is help.
I loved the drawing of the little girl and the sunflower. So alive. Really, it made my day. Also, my spouse and I laughed our heads off at the polar bear cartoon. Very relatable.
You are a joy to read, Sophie! Love the mood logging app idea. I have a famous (if only to me) Turkey Soup, the secret ingredient of which is tomatillos. Lots of vegetables including onion, potato and cabbage. Turkey or chicken broth. Barley. Now for the turkey, roast a half bone-in turkey breast, skin on. Then cool and pull off turkey meat, chop for soup. Discard bone and skin. Add a can of diced tomatoes to soup also. All the spices you like. I add Italian seasoning, garlic and onion powder, etc. This soup grows, so start with a big pot. Start with sautéing onions and go from there, adding broth, etc. This is a mumbo jumbo way to tell you about this soup, but you will love it. You can use chicken instead, but turkey makes it special. Make it your own! Don’t forget fresh tomatillos, chopped. ❤️
!!!! I have so much to say! First of all, TS;DW vocabulary being passed amongst generations is truly the greatest wish I could ever wish for. Second, that is the ONLY kind of stuffed bear I'm interested in. Third, congrats on your cool book. And last, but not least, you better believe I have a soup recipe - https://food52.com/recipes/35254-frances-moore-lappe-s-lentils-monastery-style - it's hands down the best lentil soup I've ever tasted prob because of the sherry.
Your mood data makes a lot of sense to me. Life is always changing and every day can have good and bad things simultaneously. Thank you it sharing this - makes me feel better!
I think soup is one of those things that is generally all vibes! I only follow a recipe if I want something specific. Usually I just wing it and use up what’s in the fridge.
the cookie and kate creamy roasted carrot soup is very much my winter warmer! sorry about your itchy feet!!!

I love chicken tortilla soup (I'm sure can be made sans chicken) -- especially with lots of toppings.
After years of perfecting my white chicken chili recipe, I finally tried my hand at a red bean chili and fell in love with this simple one: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/7985-turkey-chili

Natasha’s Kitchen has a great vegetable soup:
https://natashaskitchen.com/easy-vegetable-soup-recipe/
no recipe per se, but...
-red lentils+red curry paste+carrots (and maybe a red garnet yam)
-along similar lines, corn chowder but with coconut milk and green curry paste
-split pea + kimchi
-level up any soup featuring carrots with a can (1 large/2 small) of zanahorias en escabeche
(honestly, i don't think i've ever made the same soup twice, it's all vibes)
