I also love broccoli man! I just gave the card to my newly single friend. :) And I heartily agree about habits and time spent. I remember when I joined Tap Dat and wanted to be better friends with some of the women in the group... I would go to literally anything they invited me to! I felt if I showed up, we'd become better friends sooner or later and that proved to be true. It makes my heart so happy.
On another note, Sophie -- I will keep an eye out for you, Luke, and T here in New Orleans! Hugs to you all!
My favorite food right now is Broccoli Salad with plumped dried cranberries and raisins, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, tossed into broccoli florets with sweetened mayo dressing. It lasts for over a week and keeps tasting better and better every day. It's healthy, it's delicious--and the plumped cranberries are delightful.
Thank you yet again Sophie. Broccoli man sticker leading to new found family is the hopeful joy I didn't know I needed today.
I'm both so very sorry that you were/are experiencing such darkness, and simultaneously so heartened to hear about people asking for and receiving the love and compassion (and practical help) they need and deserve.
Also. My partner bought a theremin at the end of last year. He has zero musical instrument experience, and I really wasn't sure what to expect from the listening experience as her practised. But it is hands down the best non-essential-gulp-should-we-spend-that choice we've made in a very very long time.
Drifting between tea, reading, watching a snowstorm and/or birds out the window, whilst soundtracked by a loved one on the theremin? The best.
Your video didn't play for me, but I definitely know this version! Oh, filmmakers. We don't know what you are going through, but you're going through it.
Ooooh perhaps I do need a broccoli man shirt in my life. Love broccoli man, love this story, love spending chill time doing alone things together with other people. I'm currently alternating between reading a book and reading email newsletters while my new-ish romantic interest mixes records, and this has been a delightful recent discovery that we can enjoy doing the things we like to do alone on the weekends together in the same room.
Also whenever I finally visit Chicago I would like to do the NYT sunday crossword together please. That sounds so much more delightful than how I usually do it.
Please come visit me in Chicago and do the crossword with me! I'm so happy for you and your new-ish romantic interest. Thank you for involving me in your life in this way.

So much to digest! Wow. I wonder how many lovers Broccoli Man has! Count me in.
I have no idea where you are right now; I am going to guess--in Chicago.

YouTube offered me this version of Murder on The Orient Express.
You need only watch the first five minutes. Poirot. In a modern setting. Alfred Molina. I'm not sure what anyone involved was thinking!
