What a delightful list. Thank you Sophie, and thank you, Louisa.
The song in #4 would have been really helpful to me when I awoke in the middle of last night, abruptly concerned about *everything* (polar bears! increasing job insecurity! the fact that 47 appears to sign official documents with the same type of jumbo magic marker you would use to label a cardboard box in the attic!)... This gentle rhyme will surely help next time.
#5's reference to Louisa's tears as "a sign of authenticity and presence helping unlock some feelings that needed to flow" was touching and helpful.
Appliance roommates! I love this so much, especially as a professional food writing person who has always had a special relationship with my kitchen stuff.
So glad it resonated, Casey. Realizing now I could speak to so many other ones (electric kettle, dutch oven, tiny spatula...) maybe a good writing prompt for both/all of us!
Thank you for this marvelous list! My favorite part, other than the incredibly insightful “Rest vs. Rally” video, which I’m going to share with so many people, is picturing those spots with the new pavement. I haven’t lived in Chicago since 2010, but how many times have I walked beneath the Argyle underpass to get to Foster Beach? And I’m always amazed by that extra little stretch of Southport—like, “how’d you get all the way up here, Southport?”
made me smile, Megan! agreed on southport being more north than you'd expect. and so glad the rest/rally video resonated -- I want everyone in my life to see it!

I'm so glad you enjoyed, Carissa! I hope the song does help during this dark/intense time in our world <3
