I see now that there are two 37s. So... that means a bonus delight for you! You can decide which is the bonus one.

I am just stopping by to say: did you know you can have your bathtub reporcelained? Well you can. So maybe you won't have to replace it in the someday when your daughter is grown up. Also, I too passionately love toast with jam. Especially if it is sourdough toast. Such a delight. :-)

I did not know this, and maybe this is a thing that I will someday do! Although ours is metal and not porcelained, and really the trouble is with the grout. But thank you for this necessary information and thank you for sharing my love of JAM and TOAST.

In my heart, I am a several small cups person. I am also an AeroPress person, so this is totally feasible, but it is also a recipe for excessive caffeine consumption.

Cranes are Muppets and you cannot convince me otherwise. I don't f with small mugs, and I make a "What is this, a mug for ants?" joke at the coffee/tea line at every conference I've ever attended.

we are a big mug household. we prefer mugs that hold 16oz or more. every morning i put two tea bags of english breakfast into my giant mug with blueberries on it that i got in maine, and i make a giant cuppa, sweetened with maple or honey and creamed with oat milk. some days i’ll make myself a second cup with just one tea bag.

toast with butter and jam is my jam too. right now we are #blessed in jam because a friend gave us loquat jam and in exchange i made spiced apple compote. my kiddo loves loquat jam, but when it’s not available he prefers his toast with trader joe’s almond cocoa spread. in this house we are devoted to bread. carbs for life.

that button quail! so cute.

mums (and carnations) are the best. i never like lilies in my flower arrangements, and roses don’t last very long. but mums really shine, and for a long time.

i am jealous of basement hot tub.

Happy birthday! Artichoke flowers are amazing. Now I have anxiety that I’m not doing the Elephant and Piggy voices correctly. My circulation is terrible, my hands and nose are frequently freezing most of the year, and everything I have read about trying to improve circulation just says “hey, try exercising more and eating healthier and maybe that will help a little,” and despite mostly doing those things, I think my circulation is just getting worse. So if there actually is a way, please me know!

Happy birthday! I only internet know you, but say confidently: I’m so happy you’re you!

Re: cold noses. I feel like I only landed on a solution when we were all masking 24/7 and I was like finally, my nose is warm in the winter. But hm, are you a hat person? I do feel like it helps temperature regulate my head.

Two food questions! Where does one obtain cashew mozzarella??

And tangentially to quails, my CSA has been offering quail eggs, saying there are so many things to do with these little beauties, but I’m intimidated. Does anyone know the so many things to do with quail eggs.

I know nothing about quail eggs, but Miyokos makes a great vegan mozzarella. I like to make my own with cashews, and here’s the recipe: https://ciaoflorentina.com/vegan-mozzarella-cheese/

Dear Sophie,

A wonderful dispatch! Thank you for sharing all of this!

Some of my favorite chunks:

"If you have not spent some time simply watching a bee, please take my advice and do it."

"Holding tomatoes that are way too big in my normal human hands."

"Lindsay Pugh, my internet friend, came and visited and became a real life friend. I think this should happen more often, and I’m eventually going to write a really good essay about it. For the time being, let me advocate for becoming actual friends with internet people by going to visit them, or meeting somewhere halfway. Lindsay lovingly, kindly made it work."

"I keep thinking that maybe this year I have my feet on the ground as I move into the future."

Regarding that last line, have we ever talked about this Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche quote?

"The bad news is you're falling through the air, nothing to hang on to, no parachute.

The good news is, there's no ground."

Thank you for sharing as always! Happy end of May!

Love

Myq

How do you drain your hot tub, is their a drain in your basement? I prefer a sauna but what I really want to get into is cold dipping, preferably in a lake , but maybe I'll set it up in my basement instead. I'll start looking for a ice machine on FB market place now.

There is, indeed, a drain in the basement. I feel that basements should have drains! Do you live near a lake?

Happy Sophie Day, Sophie! Hooray!

My favorite delight is hearing my dog snoring as I'm falling asleep or waking up. Because I'm actually allergic to most animals, she doesn't sleep in bed with me. Even though, I would kinda love that. She chose her favorite spot to sleep in, her cave. Turns out she's a little cave dog. Her cave is the warm muffled space under my bed. I bought a bed frame tall enough and strong enough to ensure she could be under there comfortably. She has water, toys, two beds, and some of her fave blankets to enjoy. She doesn't always snore. Just sometimes, just for me (maybe).
